In an unusual twist, the Stanley Cup Final began with a pregame presentation of the Stanley Cup itself, which has joined the remaining teams in the bubble ahead of time.

Of course, given the circumstances in the bubble, we know ahead of time where the winner will be when they win it all, regardless of who the winning team actually is. So, the Cup is making an early appearance in the Final, and it seems like Anton Khudobin was getting some bright ideas.

The mental image of Anton Khudobin making off with the Cup is actually hilarious, so listen, we’re all for it. With that said, he might not need to resort to such extreme measures.

After the puck dropped, Khudobin was committing robbery of a different kind, stopping 35 of 36 shots to power the Dallas Stars to a 4-1 win in Game 1.

Now they’re just three wins away from capturing the Stanley Cup for good! Of course, we’re still on board with the take it-and-go scenario, but Khudobin and the Stars are definitely in good shape here regardless.
