From 1999 to 2012, Antoine Winfield Sr. played 14 seasons in the NFL, with three Pro Bowl appearances and an All-Pro second team selection to his name. However, one accolade he was never able to scratch off in his career was that of Super Bowl champion.
So, that made it so much more special when his son, Antoine Winfield Jr., was able to capture the Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in his very first NFL season this year. These two shared a special moment on the field after the big game.
Winfield, a second round pick of the Bucs, is coming off a pretty strong rookie season, and he could remain a contributor in even more playoff runs to come over these next few years with the team in a win-now mode.
You know what? He’s already proven himself on the big stage. It definitely takes some gusto to hit Tyreek Hill with his own peace sign taunt in the Super Bowl as a rookie. Winfield Jr. was fined by the NFL for the gesture, but petty doesn’t get much pettier than this.
