Anthony Rizzo left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury, that was later ruled to be a high ankle sprain, leaving the Cubs wondering if he’d be able to play again during the regular season.
Well, the injury couldn’t keep Rizzo out of the lineup for very long as the 30-year-old returned to the lineup on Thursday night after missing just three games and had the perfect walk-up song ready to go for his surprise return.
Rizzo has used a few walk-up songs this year, but this was his first time using The Undertaker’s theme song, and it was the perfect time to do so.
In his second at-bat of the night, Rizzo got the crowd on their feet again as he smashed his 27th home run of the season to tie the game at 1.
The Cubs entered Thursday night’s action three games back of the St. Louis Cardinals for top spot in the NL Central and half a game back of the Milwaukee Brewers for the second NL Wild Card spot, so they can use all the help they can get the rest of the way.
