If there are two players on the Toronto Maple Leafs who have benefitted from the offseason signing of Patrick Marleau two summers ago it’s Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner. Over the past two years, the three have managed to go from acquaintances to friends to family members, and their relationship has been documented over the years by Patrick’s wife, Christina.
Around this time last year, Christina sent the Internet into a frenzy and had Leafs fans chuckling for days when she posted a family photo of Patrick and his boys, which included both Auston and Mitch.
Fast forward a year and Christina Marleau is once again gracing the Internet and Leafs fans everywhere with another fantastic Marleau family photo, only this one is missing two key members.
According to Christina’s tweet, her 12-year-old son, Landon, wasn’t in the picture because he had his own hockey game that night, and Matthews wasn’t in the updated picture because they weren’t able to find him at that specific time.
Don’t worry, though, she also mentioned that they’ll be taking another one next week.
They’re the three best friends that anybody could have.
