Emotions were running high at Angel Stadium on Friday night.
The Los Angeles Angels were back home for the first time since the passing of pitcher Tyler Skaggs. Before the game, the Angels welcomed Tyler's mother to the mound for the opening pitch. Debbie drew Tyler's No. 45 into the dirt mound before throwing to Andrew Heaney.
All Angeles players wore Skaggs' No. 45 to honour him. When Mike Trout stepped up in the bottom of the 1st with a runner on, he launched a 454-foot mammoth of a shot.
Before the game, memorials and tributes were set up around the stadium to salute the 27-year-old leftie.
The Angels brought out the sticks and ran up the scoreboard, as they crushed the Mariners 13-0. In what is truly unbelievable to comprehend, the Angels combined to throw a no-hitter between pitchers Taylor Cole and Felix Pena.
Simply put, an Angel in the outfield was looking over the shoulders of the Angels, who honoured their former pitcher in a fantastic way.
One of the greatest moments in sports history.
