Back around Christmas, a video of this grandma’s reaction to being gifted an Andrew Wiggins jersey went viral. Her reaction is seriously incredible — she sure seems to love Wiggy!
After this video blew up, it even found its way to Wiggins himself, and after watching it, it seems like the Timberwolves star just had to meet his biggest fan in person. Grandma’s reaction to meeting Wiggins is every bit as heartwarming as the original viral video.
“It touched my heart,” Wiggins said of the original viral video. This is just one of those things that goes beyond the sport — it’s very cool to see Wiggins go out and make a fan’s day like this. Especially this fan!
Even in Canada, where Wiggins was billed as the country’s next basketball star, he doesn’t get a response like this. Granted, his career hasn’t taken off in quite the way that the hype had been building to — although we’ll note, since the trade of Wolves star Jimmy Butler with whom he’d butted heads, Wiggins has been on an absolute tear, averaging 28.8 points in January.
When you’re scoring that many points, maybe actually putting your jersey on is just somehting that falls by the wayside.
