Buckle up Canadian hockey fans, because we could be heading into one of the most unique seasons in NHL history.
We’ve all been wondering how the upcoming campaign is going to work but Vegas Golden Knights owner Bill Foley may have accidentally spilled commissioner Gary Bettman’s beans on Wednesday. During a radio interview with KSHP Radio Las Vegas' Brian Blessing, Foley revealed that there will be an all-Canadian division while discussing facing his former defenceman Nate Schmidt next season. Canada would therefore comprise the smallest division at seven teams.
The full interview can be heard here:
Wow. WOW!!!! Just imagine the storylines: Laine vs Matthews… the battle for top spot in Canada… the list goes on and on. If the NHL goes through with an 82 game season then teams would face each other 13 times. When asked about the comment, deputy commissioner Bill Daly explained how the league is still in the preliminary stages of planning and has no comment.
We’ll have to see if this one comes to life but 1) it seems to make complete sense and 2) it would be awesome to watch.
THE BATTLE FOR THE NORTH COULD BE UPON US!!!!
