Sometimes, it can be difficult to ask for help, even if you know you need it. When you’re under the spotlight as an NHL player, it is likely even harder to admit you have a problem.

That’s what makes Bobby Ryan’s decision to get help that much more admirable.

After white-knuckling his way through alcohol abuse, Ryan finally decided it was time to seek help. He dedicated himself to going through the NHL/NHLPA assistance program. On Tuesday, Ryan returned to the Sens lineup and joined the TSN broadcast to discuss the feeling.

 

 

It’s good to see Ryan back and looking happier and healthier. It’s still a journey, but he’s headed in the right direction.
