Here in Canada, Tim Hortons is a staple, and over time it's gone hand in hand with hockey. The chain and sport go together like Bonnie and Clyde, and south of the border, it looks like Dunkin’ Donuts is attempting to take a similar approach (though obviously not on the same scale). But last night one of their marketing tactics during a game between the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers worked out probably a little differently than they had planned.
Bruins forward David Pastrnak had previously shot a commercial with the chain involving him getting coffee from the box and surprise, surprise, the commercial was played during NBC’s Wedensday Night Hockey broadcast… as he was headed to the box. The timing of it all couldn’t have been more perfect.
Some players we guess get their cup of Joe in the box. Others just head into an actual restaurant in their full equipment…
There was one other priceless moment from the sin bin this week and it came in Monday night’s contest between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers. Check out Ron Hainsey’s stone cold reaction to Jayce Hawryluk absolutely shredding him in the box. Guy is straight nails!
Shouldn’t he be drinking a coffee instead of that Gato?!
Pasta isn’t one to make regular trips to the box (30 PIMs on the season), but this all worked out for a pretty great moment.
