They New York Giants pulled off one of the most shocking victories of the year when they defeated the Seattle Seahawks despite being the heavy underdog (double digits!). With the Seahawks sitting on an 8-3 record heading into the week, Russell Wilson – who has been considered an MVP candidate for much of the season – and the Seahawks were looking to feast once again. Instead, they couldn’t get anything going, and the Giants – WITHOUT STARTING QUARTERBACK DANIEL JONES – managed to pull it off.
All of this is very astonishing, but not nearly as astonishing as an NFC East stat that existed heading into Week 13. While the Giants, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Washington Football Team, and the Dallas Cowboys all have wins, none of them had recorded even a single win against an opponent with a winning record.
This goes to show just how bad the division is. Sure, they pick up some Ws, but only really when playing against each other or other lowly teams. The division has been THAT bad.
This stat is based on teams records right now. In Week 4, the Eagles managed to defeat the San Francisco 49ers who had a 2-1 record at the time. That record has since become a losing record.
