The Toronto Raptors wasn’t always so widely accepted around the sports world, often being referred to as a Barney jersey or team when they first started, but times have changed.
The Raptors eventually went away from the red raptor on the purple jerseys and now everyone wants them back. They used them as an alternate in the 2014-15 season, but they quickly switched away to the OVO Drake jerseys.
We’re not sure if they’ll ever go back, but if they do, one designer has a suggestion for a more accurate logo.
We’re pretty sure the Raptors are never going to do this, but it does remind us of where this team name initially came from.
The Raptors were born not long after the release of the first Jurassic Park and a dinosaur craze had taken over popular culture. They went all in on that and called themselves the Raptors and it seems to have paid off in the end.
The intro for their initial reveal was pretty great too.
