When you head to the ball game, you don’t necessarily expect it to be dangerous. The truth is, balls can easily come screaming into the stands, and if it isn’t caught by the backstop nets, it puts fans at risk.
One young fan unfortunately was struck by a Albert Almora Jr. foul ball, and it left the 4-year-old’s health in question. As you would expect, it created some extremely emotional scenes, especially from a visibly distraught Almora.
The photo that is really hitting everyone in the feels is the moment that Almora was informed that the youngster would be okay. Visibly emotional, a security guard for Minute Maid Park tells the Cubs outfielder, and offers him comfort. Some things are bigger than baseball, and the moment between this security woman and an opposing team’s player perfectly represents that.
We’re not crying, you’re crying. Okay fine, we’re all crying, and mainly just thankful she’ll be okay.
