You’d be hard-pressed to find someone more likable in the NHL than New Jersey Devils forward Brian Boyle. The humble 33-year-old is a reliable lower-line centre who is mostly a pleasure to have around because of his personality and dedication to the game, rather than his skill, speed, or shot.
Still, on Hockey Fights Cancer nights around the league, Boyle is obviously a focus. He was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia last year, a cancer that he has announced is in remission in October.
Boyle has found the spotlight in more ways than one, though. He been lighting the lamp every time he steps on the ice for Hockey Fights Cancer nights.
He scored last year on Hockey Fights Cancer night.
Then there was the hat trick, his career first.
That was the Pittsburgh Penguins night for Hockey Fights Cancer. On Friday, the Devils played their own. Boyle did not disappoint.
You can’t make this stuff up, it’s really just amazing. He has 8 points on the whole season (7 goals, 1 assist), 4 of those have come on Hockey Fights Cancer nights.
