The Washington Capitals hosted Russian Heritage Night on Thursday night for their game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, and you can bet Alexander Ovechkin did a little something special for the game.
When Ovi hit the ice on Thursday night, the Capitals’ captain was rocking some incredible custom skates which were designed by the same guys who were responsible for the NFL custom cleat revolution, Nicholas "theheyymann" Avery and Napoleon "Polo" Kerber.
Ovechkin’s custom skates pay tribute to both of his homes, Russia and the United States.
Who knows if this will be a new trend that catches on throughout the NHL, but who better to debut custom skates than Alex Ovechkin?
