Alex Cora is back as manager of the Boston Red Sox after serving his one-year league mandated suspension. The punishment was for his role as the Houston Astros bench coach, in which he was heavily involved in the ‘Stros infamous sign-stealing scandal that has tarnished the team’s 2017 World Series title. As manager of the Sox, the team also came under fire for sign-stealing, although Cora was not directly punished for involvement there.

One year later, Cora is back at the helm.

The hiring has obviously received a fair amount of backlash as some baseball fans angrily condemn the move. Cora spoke publically for the first time since getting hired, explaining that he’s grateful to be back, and apologetic for his past wrongdoing.

We’re guessing that there’s no going back in the mind’s of some baseball fans, but you’d hope that he’d at least be more committed to managing fairly after all the turbulence he’s faced over the past year.
