If there’s one Toronto athlete that has people seriously talking, then it’s definitely Blue Jays starter Alek Manoah.
Ever since his first start for the Jays, he has been creating a name for himself.
And that hype is just continuing to warm up.
During the Jays' first game of their three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays, Alek Manoah started off on the mound and absolutely dominated, especially with his filthy slider.
Manoah’s start on the mound wasn’t just amazing, but it was record-breaking as his seven consecutive strikeouts set the franchise record.
Previous Jays pitchers who have come close to Manoah’s accomplishment and recorded six straight are Aaron Sanchez, Red Lilly, Marc Rzepczynski, JA Happ, and Carols Villaneuva.
Though it doesn’t stop there!
Manoah additionally recorded the most strikeouts in their first 7 major league starts in franchise history, putting up 43. He passes Sean Reid-Foley who put up 42 and current member of the bullpen, Trent Thornton.
And you guessed it, fans absolutely ate up Manoah’s start.
Happy days meet the Jays bullpen!? What a way to end the week.
