Over the course of Cristiano Ronaldo's career he has managed to win four Ballon d'Or trophies, four Champions League titles, five league titles and a slew of other top honours. But the one thing he has been missing out on is scoring on a bicycle kick.
That may come as a bit of a surprise to most, as Ronaldo is easily one of the most technically gifted soccer players in the history of the game. It definitely hasn't been due to a lack of trying, and he has come painstakingly close on many occasions, but for whatever reason, a bicycle kick goal has eluded CR7 for more than a decade.
Thursday in a World Cup qualifying match versus the Faroe Islands, Ronaldo finally scored the goal he's been waiting for.
When it comes to the bigger picture of Ronaldo's career, this goal doesn't really mean a whole lot, as he's certainly scored goals that were a whole lot more important in the context of a game. Still, every great player should have a great bicycle kick goal, so that when the next generation of soccer fans search "awesome CR7 goals," this one is readily available for repeat viewings.
