Basketball Hall of Famer and 11-time NBA champion Bill Russell was rushed to a hospital on Friday night due to dehydration. The 84-year-old was released after staying the night, and from his home, he announced to fans that he was alright with a bit of fun:
Basketball fans can breathe easy at the sight of Russell with water in hand. For an 84 year old, he’s still got jokes for days. “Thank You again to everyone for the well wishes strange to read them when ur still alive!” he wrote, savagely.
After Russell’s hospital scare, Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens testified to the impact that the C’s legend has left on the franchise, and how it still motivates the team today:
Not everything worked out, however, as Russell’s Celtics would lose to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night in a crushing 116-86 defeat. Can’t win them all, although we’re just glad to see that Russell is doing well and refusing to stop getting his jokes off.
