It’s not uncommon to see NHL stars brightening the days of their young fans by gifting them a stick or a puck (sometimes dependent on the youngster’s rock-paper-scissors ability). Unfortunately, we’ve seen a few instances where the young fan has their souvenir swiped away by another fan.

Luckily this opens the door for classy players to right the wrong, and that’s just what Clayton Keller did when he found out young fan Caid Giles had a stick swiped away from him.

Giles is 8 years old, and after Keller was named the #1 star of Arizona’s 6-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on January 4th, he attempted to get the stick over the glass to Giles. Unbeknownst to Keller, the stick was swiped away by another fan before Giles could get it, leaving Giles very upset by the whole affair.

Keller responded by reaching out to the Coyotes’ PR team to find Caid and invite him to the Pittsburgh Penguins game.

Unfortunately, the Coyotes were beat in a shootout by the Pens, but we’re guessing Caid still left the game with a smile.
