We’re less than 24 hours away from the start of the 2018 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Lacrosse Championship in Netanya, Israel, and there will be one nation in particular making its international lacrosse debut.
Team Jamaica is one of the 46 countries competing in this year’s tournament and it also happens to be the country’s first taste of international competition. On the eve of the tournament’s opening day the country’s sponsor, Adidas, revealed the exclusive kits Team Jamaica will wear during the World Lacrosse Championship and they’re fantastic.
Most teams tend to head into their first-ever international tournament with pretty basic uniforms, but thanks to their partnership with Adidas the Jamaican national lacrosse team will look super sharp when they hit the field for their first game against Israel on Thursday.
The kits pay homage to the country’s unique personality and history by using the colours of the nation’s flag for the colour scheme, which includes a repeating flag in the short side panel of the jersey sleeves. The ‘Out of Many, One People’ motto from the Jamaican Coat of Arms is on the jersey and the gloves to pay tribute to the unity of the Jamaican population’s multiracial roots.
Jamaica will open up their tournament against Israel on the opening day and will follow that up with a date against Russia on Friday.
