Shaq is a man of many talents and acting happens to be one of them.
However, just because he’s a former NBA superstar it doesn’t mean he was just handed roles in the movies he has made appearances in. He had to earn those spots, only the way he had to earn them was unlike any other way that gigs are landed.
In a recent interview with Victoria Moghaddami of PopCulture, Shaq revealed that he always asked Adam Sandler for his own movie whenever he saw him sitting courtside at Los Angeles Lakers game but would always get heckled back by the actor.
"Crazy thing about the Adam Sandler movies, he used to sit there with Jack Nicholson. I used to always, especially after I scored a bucket and the crowd goes crazy, I'd be like, 'Adam, give me a movie!' He would say, 'Win a championship first!"
Hey, Sandler wasn’t kidding about giving Shaq parts in movies if he won championships, because he’s put him in four of his movies since Shaq won four titles.
Shaq was probably thinking of more of a starring role at the time when he kept bringing it up to Sandler, like his role in Kazaam, but he’s probably just happy to be part of the movie in general.
