There are two people that are immune to 2020 and all of its endless curve balls and misfortunes.
One of those people is Patrick Mahomes, who won a Super Bowl, signed a deal so big we can’t wrap our heads around it, got engaged, and is expecting a baby later this year.
The other person, it seems, is Victor Hedman. He couldn’t be stopped in the NHL Playoffs this year, and won a Conn Smythe trophy for his contributions whilst leading his team to Stanley Cup glory.
Hedman amassed 22 points and ten goals, which are solid numbers for anyone, but seriously impressive for a defenseman. The 10 goals weren’t the only thing that made this number special, and Hedman is just the 10th defenseman in NHL history to have won a Conn Smythe.
The 29-year-old joined impressive ranks with this feat, joining Duncan Keith, Scott Niedermayer, Nicklas Lidstrom, Scott Stevens, Brian Leetch, Al MacInnis, Larry Robinson, Bobby Orr, and Serge Savard as the tenth defenseman to win a Conn Smyth.
If Hedman or Mahomes could let us know where they’re getting their mojo from this year, we’d really appreciate it. Until then, congrats guys!
