The New York Rangers are second in the league in penalty minutes this season, but we’re surprised they’re not leading after what happened against the Islanders.

Cody McLeod was getting into it with another heavyweight, Matt Martin, things started to escalate right as a linesman began to get in between them. As he pulls Martin away from the scrum, McLeod decided to throw a punch and he connects directly with the linesman’s face.

Somehow, he didn’t get any extra penalties.

That linesman handled the punch like it was nothing. Maybe he should be an enforcer in the NHL. With the way some of these officials whip up and down the ice, he could probably hold his own out there.

Martin and McLeod did end up fighting in the end, and McLeod definitely didn’t win. It was a rough night for the Rangers’ enforcer, but on the bright side for him, it doesn’t seem as if he’ll be getting any extra punishment for the mishit.
