Hockey photos from the 1970's and before are always interesting because of how different the game looks, but not often to we get to see photos like this one from Reddit.

If you’re familiar with Reddit you probably know that there’s a subreddit for just about everything. A lot of the lesser known ones are very interesting and one of our favourites has to be /r/colorization. It’s a subreddit for black and white photos that is populated by artists that colourize the photos to give people a better idea of what those moments really looked like.

One of the latest masterpieces comes from an iconic hockey game in which the Montreal Canadiens played against the Red Army in 1975 – a game that many consider one of the greatest hockey games ever played.

December 31st, 1975. Canadiens VS. Red Army, considered by many to be the greatest hockey game ever played. Colorized with Photoshop CS6 from r/Colorization

This isn’t new to hockey photos, because we have seen it done with photos like Bobby Orr’s famous tumble and many others. We just love seeing the old styles, old rinks and old players pictured just like they were playing today.

Incredible work from Max Maurmanns on the original photo.
