There are some things you just don’t do in hockey. Hitting from behind and high-sticking opponents in the face is a pretty good start, but one of the biggest no-no’s of all is…
… Fighting a fan.
Calgary Flames prospect Martin Pospisil of the USHL’s Sioux City Musketeers got himself into an ugly situation when he attempted to jump into the stands and fight an Omaha Lancers fan. The spectator appeared to throw a piece of garbage at Pospisil before he attempted to take matters into his own hands. Luckily a couple gentlemen were on hand to ensure that nothing happened.
That could have been ugly… They might want to consider getting some higher glass above the box for starters? Fans reacted to the fight accordingly once it leaked on Twitter.
Pospisil is far from the first player to try and get into it with a fan. We’ve seen a player such as Tie Domi literally get into it with a fan from the box, but the same incident occurred more recently in a NBJHL game between the Southern Sting and Grand Lake Moose. Straight chaos ensued.
A fourth round pick in 2018, Pospisil has 43 points in 33 games this season with the Musketeers. He’d probably be wise to avoid situations like this going forward.
