The Anaheim Ducks made a splash yesterday when they unveiled their new (if you want to call it that) third jersey. The organization went back to its roots and brought back the classic Mighty Ducks logo that was worn by Paul Kariya, Teemu Selanne, and Disney character Charlie Conway in the 1990’s. Other than a few minor adjustments, it’s basically the same thing.
Other teams such as the Pittsburgh Penguins and Arizona Coyotes have utilized their organization’s old logo for a third jersey, and it got us thinking that some more iconic logos still need to resurface. With that in mind, here are five logos that need to make some sort of return to the NHL (and in some cases, stick around for a bit longer).
QUEBEC NORDIQUES
Let’s get this one out of the way early, shall we?
The classic red Nordiques logo with the iconic blue and white Quebec sweaters was a match made in heaven. Unfortunately the uniforms were cut out of Colorado’s plan, who chose to go with a new look after the team made its way south of the border. With chatter going around about Quebec City possibly getting its team back, could we be seeing it on the ice in the not-so distant future?
WINNIPEG JETS
The Jets brought back their retros for the 2016 Heritage Classic, but the league needs more. You’ve got to think that the team will be rocking the sweater more in the upcoming season, especially when you consider that they’re arguably nicer than their originals.
HARTFORD WHALERS
There have been whispers about a potential return of the Whalers logo, but nothing has materialized... yet. Carolina just released its new third jersey, but brining the Whaler back for at least a couple of games wouldn’t hurt. Man, that thing was a beauty!

MINNESOTA NORTH STARS
The Stars organization has featured a carousel of jerseys, ranging from their classics they won the 1999 Stanley Cup with to a bull shaped like a consolation in the mid-2000’s (they weren’t exactly easy to look at either). With third jerseys back in the fold, why not bring back the uniform that got everything started? Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn would look pretty fly with these bad boys on.

CALGARY FLAMES HORSE
Unlike Dallas’ weird bull jerseys, Calgary’s horse turned out to be pretty cool. The firey animal on the black jersey should be remembered as one of the more intimidating sweaters in NHL history, and there probably wouldn’t be too many complaints if the organization decided to bring them back.
