The NHL has been going through somewhat of a revolution in the last few years. There’s much less of a precedent put on size and toughness, and more of a focus on speed and skill. That opens the door for players that aren’t very big to have an easier time making in the league.

Sure, there were the Martin St. Louis’ and the Theo Fleurys that persevered in the age of the enforcer, but players of smaller stature were few and far between. We’re in a new age now, an age where players like Johnny Gaudreau, Paul Byron, and Alex DeBrincat can succeed more easily.

No one knows that more than 5’4 Nathan Gerbe, who punches in as the shortest player in the league. On Tuesday, a photo went viral of Gerbe going into the corner with Zdeno Chara, tallest player in the league.

It’s safe to say the size difference was pretty obvious, and on Wednesday Gerbe responded to the photo.

Twitter clearly thought that was pretty funny, as all the jokes started coiming out following Gerbe’s tweet.
