Hockey fans outside of Toronto are probably already sick and tired of hearing about the Toronto Maple Leafs, but they're hard to ignore when they score 7 goals a game.
Tuesday night, the Leafs beat Dallas 7-4 and four of their goals came from their two best players, Auston Matthews and John Tavares. Mitch Marner and Morgan Rielly also had big months and with 20 goals in four games, there were some insane stats that came out of Toronto's latest win.
Dynamic Duo
Although they play on different lines (aside from the top PP unit), Matthews and Tavares are scoring at an insane rate. At this point Tavares is just trying to keep pace with Matthews and he's doing a pretty good job of that.
So Much Scoring
The Leafs are going to score a ton of goals this season, but oddly enough, they scored more goals through 4 games last season than they have this season.
Lucky Number 7
It's incredibly difficult to score 7 goals in a game, but to do it in consecutive road games is incredibly rare, as evidenced by the stat above.
Rielly Is Rolling
Over the last 30 seasons, no defenceman has recorded more points in his team's first four games than Morgan Rielly.
Last season, the 24-year-old tallied a career-high 52 points and while it's early, he's on pace to smash that total and set a career-high in goals, assists, and points.
