The "Mighty Ducks" movie series is one that is near and dear to us, so much so that we actually did a quiz on the first movie of the series.
Any fans of the series know that 25 years ago today, March 25th, one of the most improbable comebacks in hockey history was completed by Julie "The Cat" Gaffney and the Ducks to upset Wolf Stansson and the Iceland Vikings.
Gunnar Stahl was the tournament's leading scorer. He had all the momentum on his side going up against a goalie in Julie that hadn't warmed up.
Julie had the quick glove, though, and she came up big when her team needed her most. A heartbreaking ending for Iceland, but pure jubilation for the Ducks who willed their way to that comeback win.
Speaking of 25-year anniversaries, the NHL team celebrated its 25th season this year and brought back Julie and company to hang out with some of their players.
