Genevieve Beacom made history on Friday night as she became the first woman to play for a professional baseball team in Australia as she made her pitching debut for the Melbourne Aces.
The 17-year-old left-handed pitcher completed an inning of work in her professional debut and didn’t allow a hit or run in her time on the mound in the Aces Melbourne Challenge Series game against the Adelaide Giants.
The Aces didn’t pick up the win, but that didn’t take away from the historic moment and performance put forth by Beacom.
