Zack Smith took to Twitter to thank the Senators, their fans, after being traded to Chicago

On Tuesday, the Senators and Blackhawks were trade partners as the two teams completed a player-for-player deal.

TRADE ALERT: The #Blackhawks have acquired forward Zack Smith from the Senators in exchange for forward Artem Anisimov.

Artem Anisimov is used to playing for different teams as he's bounced around a bit over the course of his NHL career, but for Zack Smith, Chicago will be just the second organization he's played for.

The 31-year-old spent the first 11 seasons of his career in Ottawa and upon being traded, he took to Twitter to thank the Sens and their fans.

Being traded for the first time is never easy, but Smith is more than looking forward to his future with the Blackhawks and helping Chicago get back into Cup contention.

"I'm just excited beyond words to be playing for Chicago, so if they want to put me in goal or on 'D,' I'd be happy with that too."
