There are still plenty of free agents available in Major League Baseball and one of the biggest names still on the market is right handed starting pitcher Yu Darvish.
Although the 31-year-old is still waiting for a contract, it turns out a few teams are right in the thick of things attempting to sign the four-time All-Star while they still have a chance.
According to a report from Fort Worth Star-Telegram Rangers beat reporter Jeff Wilson, Darvish has narrowed down his potential landing spots to five teams; the Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, Houston Astros and Minnesota Twins. However, it turns out there’s one more team in the mix, according to Darvish’s Twitter account.
No one seems to know whether or not there is some truth behind the tweet, but if it is accurate it looks like there are six teams in the final running for Darvish and he’s most likely going to return to the American League.
In five MLB seasons, the Habikino, Japan native owns a career record of 56-42 over 131 starts to go along with 1,021 strikeouts, a 3.42 ERA and a 1.179 WHIP over 832.1 innings.
