After a frustrating start to the season, the Montreal Canadiens have turned things around and are now right in the thick of the playoff race.  Tuesday night, the Habs lit up the Canucks for a 7-5 win to move five points back of the Bruins for third place in the Pacific Division.

This next stretch of games will be very critical for the Canadiens as they'll have to try and stay in the playoff race without their top D pairing from the start of the season.

Victor Mete was loaned to Team Canada for the World Juniors and on Monday, Claude Julien announced Shea Weber is being shut down.

The 32-year-old tried to play through a foot injury, but now he'll have some time to heal and in all honesty, we're surprised Weber didn't get shut down earlier considering when they injury occurred.

Talk about toughness and leadership right there.  Weber has played in 26 games this season and he's had to deal with this injury for all of them essentially in order to help his team win.

This is yet another example that supports the "hockey players are the toughest athletes in the world" argument and who are we to argue against it when players are playing through injuries like this in the regular season.

Habs fans now hope Weber can make a full recovery and quickly as the Canadiens continue to chase down a playoff spot.
