Shaquem Griffin is one of the feel-good storylines of this year’s draft. Despite having one hand amputated at the age of four, the talented linebacker continued to persevere through every obstacle thrown at him, and on Saturday his dream came true – he had been drafted to the NFL.

When the Seattle Seahawks used the draft’s 141st pick to take Griffin, it surprised lots of people. Despite tearing it up at the combine, Griffin had the unfixable quality of missing one hand.  When the call was made, apparently it even surprised Griffin himself. In fact, he wasn’t even around when the call came in – he was in the washroom.

Soon after, Griffin got back out to his friends and his family where the true magical moment took place.

While the washroom isn’t exactly the most ideal place to be when the call comes in, it almost adds to the narrative. It was THAT unexpected.
