Sweden’s Euro Cup squad had a bit of extra motivation ahead of their knockout matchup against the Ukraine on Tuesday.
Hey, you know that Will Ferrell guy? Yeah, pretty big Sweden guy. It probably has to do with the fact his wife, Viveca Paulin, is a native of the country, and you better believe he delivered the goods ahead of the match. Ferrell wished the team luck before telling the players, “you are so smart, you are so strong, you are so fast, you play fabulously good” before chanting “we are all Sweden fans,” according to Bakersfield.com.
You’ve really just gotta respect the Hollywood star’s passion here:

It’s worth noting that Ferrell is a soccer fan and is a part owner of the MLS’ LAFC. Apparently his team scores whenever he wears hi Ricky Bobby helmet?
Well, he probably should have worn it on Tuesday because unfortunately his speech wasn’t enough to help will Sweden to victory. Ukraine scored a goal in extra time… of extra time(!) to knock the Swedes out of the tournament.
We love the passion. Hopefully we see the same kind of stuff from him at the 2022 World Cup!
