The writing is on the wall for Buffalo Sabres forwards Taylor Hall.
We’re likely going to have to scrap the ‘Buffalo Sabres’ part in the near future because this dude is surely on his way out the door. Buffalo is scratching their offseason acquisition tonight and it doesn’t take a genius to realize it’s probably because the team doesn’t want him to get hurt ahead of April 12th’s trade deadline.
So now the question becomes… where is he going to go?
Sure, there’s been chatter about him heading to Boston, or even St, Louis if they’re still interested in contending for a Cup this season (despite holding a nearly .500 record), but forget the teams south of the border. We’re focusing on the squads in Canada, and the trios the 29-year-old could help comprise if he were to head to his native country.
So, let’s look at three that could be LETHAL with Hall in town.
TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS – HALL – MATTHEWS – MARNER
Goodness gracious. Just look at those names!!!! Matthews and Marner would be exactly what the doctor ordered to help the talented winger find his game again. The duo have combined for 93 points this season with Matthews leading the league in goals. This one is fun to think about.
EDMONTON OILERS – HALL – MCDAVID – DRAISAITL
The Oilers have been another name tossed around in the Hall rumour mill. Imagine Hall coming back to the team that drafted him, but this time with arguably the top two centres in the leagues. He sure would look good on that top line with Connor McDavid, and Edmonton could really use some secondary scoring. Imagine these three together on a power-play!!!!
Hey, crazier things have happened.
MONTREAL CANADIENS – HALL – SUZUKI - TOFFOLI
The Habs are the last logical team to make a run for Hall and they could arguably use him the most. Montreal sits just behind Toronto (3.31) and Edmonton (3.26) with a 3.23 goals per game average, but Brendan Gallagher broke his thumb on Monday, so yeah… that raises some issues. Hall would be a nice replacement and could thrive in Montreal’s top six.
So… which of these three trios are you taking?
