Wes McCauley is our favourite referee in all of hockey because of his incredibly dramatic goal or no goal calls, along with his communication with the players on a game-to-game basis.
Monday night, we were gifted with another wonderful Wes moment during the Kings and Blue Jackets game when he yelled out "whistle" after blowing the whistle a few times to try and break up a scrum in front of the net.
When in doubt, yell it out!
Aside from ensuring player safety, communication is a big part of an official's job and McCauley is one of the best in the business when it comes to communicating.
