Ahhhh Christmas. The one holiday of the year that burns a massive hole in your pocket, but at the same time allows you to receive that gift you’ve needed all year. From a financial standpoint, NHLers really don’t need a whole lot. But we came up with a couple of practical gifts for a few of the league’s stars that just makes a little too much sense. With that said, let’s kick things off!
JOHN TAVARES
Tavares rocked the hockey world this past summer after choosing the Toronto Maple Leafs as his home for the next 11 years. A native of Mississauga, Ontario, the 28-year-old grew up a die-hard Leaf fan and infamously posted a photo of himself as a youngster in Leafs PJ’s. Well, the guy has grown a great deal since so here you go Johnny!
BRENT BURNS
His best pal Joe Thornton may have shaved his beard off but Burnsy's still looking an awful lot like Chewbacca these days. We’re not saying he necessarily has to take the whole thing off, but maybe it could use a bit of a trim…
… Or not?
ALEX OVECHKIN
Ovi graced the world with quite possibly the greatest player-trophy marriage in the history of sports. After drinking from it, swimming in public fountains with it, and sleeping with it, you can bet the Russian is wishing at this time of year for another Stanley Cup run.
And we’re sure a lot of hockey fans are too!
DAVID PASTRNAK
It’s common to eat dairy on Christmas, so what better gift for the Bruins forward than a little pasta? It’s probably a little easier to eat than most other foods too considering those cracked jibs he’s rocking in that smile.
ARTEMI PANARIN
Most people don’t wish for a loaf of bread for Christmas but hey, the Breadman needs his goods! We’re not even sure if Artemi actually likes bread or not but we’re sure he would get a good laugh out of receiving something like this.
