Early Tuesday, Larry Walker tweeted out his belief that he was going to come up short on his Hall of Fame bid. He thanked fans, and received all sorts of messages of support and encouragement. With other names like Barry Bonds and Curt Schilling also on the list of eligibility, Walker believed he wouldn’t make the cut off point.
He did. Larry Walker was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame alongside New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter.
Fortunately for all of us, one member of Walker’s gathering filmed the moment Larry picked up the phone and found out he was going to be a Hall of Famer. It’s content we’ve seen before, and it’s content we never get tired of.
Watching his friends and family break down as he’s informed of the honour is enough to make the Grinch’s heart grow three sizes. Walker becomes just the 2nd Canadian to be elected to the Hall, joining Fergie Jenkins.
This stat is unconfirmed, but we’re guessing he’s the first to get the Call to the Hall while wearing a SpongeBob SquarePants shirt.
Legend.
