The Wizards will pay Champagnie $1.8 million for the final six weeks of the season, locking in a player who is averaging career highs in points (7.5), rebounds (4.6), steals (0.9) and field goal (50.4%) and 3-point (37.6) percentages.
Champagnie, 23, has been a part-time starter for the Wizards in his second season with the team. He has made 15 starts in 40 games and is averaging 11.6 points and 7.5 rebounds in those opportunities.
He joined the Wizards on a 10-day contract in February 2024 and now is linked to the team for the future. Champagnie also has played for the Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics in a four-year career.
