Following Khabib Nurmagomedov's win over Conor McGregor and post-fight shenanigans at UFC 229, Khabib's father let it be known that his son wasn't going to get off the hook for his actions.
"I will impose a punishment tougher than the UFC’s. I warned him. For me, discipline comes first. You do whatever you want in the Octagon, [but] outside — this is the border of civilians, where there are children, women, strangers.”
With Khabib back home in the Republic of Dagestan, the 30-year-old UFC Lightweight Champion was paid a visit by none other than Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin had a special message for Khabib's father and informed the fighter that he'll be talking to Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov to go easy on him.
“I will ask your father not to punish you too strictly, because you achieved the main task, worthily and convincingly," professed Putin according to an interview posted on RT.com
Following the fight, Putin called Khabib and explained that he was proud of his performance to stay undefeated in his mixed martial arts career. Nothing like being a 30-year-old adult and still having that thought in the back of your head that your dad is going to discipline you. Will Khabib be put-in his place?
If there's anyone that can convince Mr. Nurmagomedov otherwise, it's Vladimir.
Hopefully the old man doesn’t have any issues with Khabib threatening to smash Dana White’s vechicle.
