It’s official, Steven Stamkos is now the Tampa Bay Lightning’s all-time leading goal scorer.
The 29-year-old picked up his 36th of the season and career goal No. 384 in the first period of Monday night’s tilt against the Arizona Coyotes to pass Vincent Lecavalier for top spot on the franchise’s all-time goals list. Shortly after his franchise record-setting goal, Stamkos received a congratulatory message from the man he passed for top spot on the list.
Stamkos played with Lecavalier from 2008-2013 and got 34 of his goals courtesy of Lecavalier in one way or another, while Stamkos assisted on 15 of Lecavalier’s 384 goals in a Lightning uniform.
The longest serving captain in Lightning franchise history wasn’t the only one of Stamkos’ former teammates to congratulate him on his recent accomplishment as Martin St. Louis shared a message with an even better photo on social media.
St. Louis and Stamkos spent a little more time together as teammates and their on-ice chemistry was something else as St. Louis assisted on 100 of Stamkos’ goals, while Stamkos assisted on 66 of St. Louis’ 365 goals in a Lightning uniform.
