Adrian Peterson is one of the greatest running backs to ever play in the NFL and he’s certainly the greatest running back to ever suit up for the Minnesota Vikings.
In 123 games with the Vikings from 2007 to 2016, Peterson rushed the ball a franchise-high 2,418 times for a franchise-best 11,747 yards and 97 touchdowns, and on Thursday night he returned to the place where his career started as the Washington Redskins were in Minnesota.
Although Washington was defeated, 19-9, the 34-year-old ran the ball 14 times for 76 yards, which was good enough to move him up to sixth spot on the NFL’s all-time rushing yards list. Even though he’s no longer in the purple and gold, the Vikings faithful showed their former running back some love on his latest accomplishment as they gave him a standing ovation once it was announced.
Even though his time with the Vikings didn’t end the way he would have liked, Peterson is still greatly appreciated in Minnesota and he’s still got some love for the Vikings faithful, as well.
