One of the best things about the sport of hockey that we love is the creativity and fun we can all have after scoring a big goal.

Depending on the context and game situation, some players will opt for the classic props to his teammates to keep the celly in a respectful manner. Over the years, we’ve seen some extravagant ones, like Tiger Williams riding his stick, Teemu Selanne shooting his glove in mid-air with his stick, Jaromir Jagr’s patented salute, and Alex Ovechkin hovering over top of his “hot” stick.

Most game celebrations occur by using equipment, or even getting one of your linemates in on the fun. The only real fan interaction we see with cellys is when a player smashes his gloves against the board pretending to his the fan props, or jumping into the plexiglass after scoring a big goal.

Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup of the USHL’s Fargo Force has come up with a new approach on how to get his fans engaged, or in this case, whip their phones out and starting record the action. Schmidt-Svejstrup scored one of the Force’s 3 goals in a 3-2 come-from-behind win over the Waterloo Black Hawks to send them to Clark Cup Final to determine the championship winner of the league. After the game was over, the Force circled around their goaltender and celebrated their Western Conference Final win behind the net.

One fan quickly grabbed their phone and started recording, and what they found next will surely make you chuckle.

Playoff hockey really does bring out the best cellys, doesn’t it?

Schmidt-Svejstrup and the Force begin their quest for the USHL Championship beginning on Friday night against the Youngstown Phantoms in a best-of-five series.
