There’s no denying that Alexander Ovechkin is one of the best goal scorers in NHL history, and will go down as an all-time great in hockey.

For a long time though, his many impressive accolades were overshadowed by the fact that he had yet to lead his team to Stanley Cup glory.

That all changed two years ago today, when the Capitals downed the Golden Knights in Game Five of the Stanley Cup Finals to win it all.

Honestly? The win and the subsequent Summer of Ovi might be our favourite Stanley Cup memory to date.
