You know those “what could have been” moments that kind of eat you up a little?

Yeah, we’re currently going through that after hearing that there was supposed to be a Space Jam sequel called Skate Jam starring the one and only Tony Hawk.

Taking to Instagram Sunday night, Hawk decided to share one of his favourite stories on the movie that never was but should have been.

Warner Brothers had reached out to the pro skater in 2003 about creating essentially a skateboarding version of Space Jam with all of the Looney Tunes characters we know and love.

Hawk explained how he was very interested in partaking in the movie, sharing how his eldest son Riley would always watch Space Jam and that Tony himself had even remembered the movie’s dialog.

Tony Hawk is a HUGE Space Jam guy, ya love to see it.

Having the meeting prior to Hawk heading out to Australia for a business trip, everyone seemed very on board for the movie to come out after the release of Back in Action (2003) as a whole series essentially of films reintroducing the Looney Tunes characters.

Unfortunately for not only Tony, Warner Brothers, but the entire world who was deprived of the potential masterpiece that would be Skate Jam, which all fell through after Back in Action did not perform well at the box office.

Tony Hawk quite literally got ghosted by Warner Brothers after that since no one would return his calls or as he would describe it “very Hollywood.”

He shares how cool it would have been to be on par with Michael Jordan, which we absolutely agree with. Tony Hawk was one of the biggest athletes and names growing up for many of us so we’re positive the movie would have TANKED.

Hopefully, with the release of Space Jam 2 in 2021, both Hawk and Warner Brothers could revisit the possibility of Skate Jam and make all of our early 2000’s kids dreams come true.
