Ben Roethlisberger has been around a long time. He’s won two Super Bowls, established one of the most consistent offences in the league, and has remained a staple under centre in Pittsburgh for nearly two decades.
After the Steelers were eliminated from playoffs by the Cleveland Browns, cameras caught Big Ben in a moment notably more emotional than years he’d been eliminated in the past. Many thought it could signify his last game in the league, which is very possible, but from the sounds of this mic’d up moment there may be another reason.
After the game, a mic’d up moment between Ben and longtime Steelers centre Maurkice Pouncey catches #7 was chocked full of emotion. Pouncey reportedly plans to retire after a 10 year career in Pittsburgh, so Sunday likely marked his final game.
Pouncey’s potential last game was unfortunately marred by a bad snap to begin the game, one in which the Browns fell on the ball in the end zone.
This was far from the reason the Steelers lost, as they gave up a ton of points in the 1st quarter alone.
