John Tavares' biggest fan in Toronto might be on his own team.

Auston Matthews is impressed with Tavares’ game, and his appreciation for it was perfectly captured while Tavares rocked a Buds practice jersey for the first time. Watch, as he basically looks like a young hockey fan watching his favourite player on the ice for the first time in this hilarious GIF.

It wasn’t long before Matthews eventually hit the ice with his new teammate. The two went to work and put on quite the show together.

 

All appears to be well in Toronto, but rumours swirled that Matthews wasn’t in favour of landing the big fish free agent. All of that was put to rest by his agency rep Bobby Orr, though, who insisted those were all a bunch of baloney.
