A lot of people doubted Tim Tebow when he decided to pursue becoming a professional baseball player in 2016, but he’s managed to own a spot in the New York Mets organization for the past two years and has only been getting better along the way.

Last month, the Mets hired Brodie Van Wagenen to be the team’s general manager going forward and there’s a chance we might see Tebow on the team’s Opening Day roster because of the recent hiring, according to Jon Morosi.

Tebow spent last season in Double-A with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, where he hit six home runs and drove in 36 runs to go with a .273 batting average and .336 on-base percentage in 84 games, but he’s never even had a single at-bat in Triple-A. However, that hasn’t changed Van Wagenen’s mind as he’s not ruling out the possibility that Tebow makes the Opening Day roster.

The 31-year-old outfielder also earned a spot as the designated hitter on the East All-Star team last year and went 1-for-4 in the game, but his season was cut short due to a broken hamate bone in his right hand.
