There has been plenty of upheaval in the NFL this offseason — of course Tom Brady’s departure from the New England Patriots comes to mind, and the Cincinnati Bengals’ expected release of Andy Dalton after adding Joe Burrow means more change.
Believe it or not, that leaves us with just three quarterback/wide receiver pairings with over four years of experience together: Matt Ryan and Julio Jones in Atlanta, Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams in Green Bay, and Russell Wilson and Tyler Lockett in Seattle.
Of course, this might have something to do with the fact that some of the best young quarterbacks in the game haven’t even played four seasons in the NFL yet — Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson only have two years of experience, while Deshaun Watson has three.
As these guys are showing us, you don’t need years of developing chemistry with your receivers to find success — you just need to be good at what you do. Still, if you want to talk about all-time great QB/WR tandems, it does seem like we’re at a period of transition for a lot of the duos that we’ve come used to seeing.
Somebody couldn’t resist making a Jameis Winston joke, though. You didn’t have to do the man like this!
